International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 14 Endorsement

INTERNATIONAL UNION OF ELEVATOR CONSTRUCTORS, LOCAL 14 ENDORSES MAYOR BROWN FOR RE-ELECTION

Union Cites Mayor’s Leadership and Vision

BUFFALO – Mayor Byron W. Brown today continued to build momentum in his re-election effort with the announcement that the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC), Local 14 has endorsed the Mayor for a second term.
In a letter to the Mayor, Donald M. Winkle Jr., Business Representative and Financial Secretary of IUEC, Local 14, stated, “Local 14 is well aware of your support for organized labor and the members we represent. Your leadership and vision benefits our membership; I and Local 14 would be proud to support and endorse your candidacy.”

This announcement marks another important endorsement for Mayor Brown as he seeks a second term as Mayor of Buffalo.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 14,” said Mayor Brown. “Since taking office I have fought for the working men and women of our city by fulfilling my 2005 campaign pledge to lift the previously state control board-imposed wage freeze for all city employees, which allowed us to increase employee wages, bringing all full-time city employees up to the living wage and negotiated four new union contracts for city employees. We have made great progress over the past 3 ½ years and I am confident Buffalo is moving in the right direction.”

In addition to the support of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 14, Mayor Brown has received the endorsement of the Buffalo Building & Construction Trades Council, the Western New York Chapter of the Working Families Party, the Erie County Independence Party, the Erie County Conservative Party, the Western New York Hispanic & Friends Association, and the Buffalo Educational Support Team.
