ERIE COUNTY INDEPENDENCE PARTY ENDORSES MAYOR BROWN

Mayor’s Re-Election Bid Builds Momentum With Another Important Endorsement

BUFFALO – The Erie County Independence Party has endorsed Mayor Byron W. Brown for re-election as Mayor of Buffalo. As in 2005 when they endorsed Mayor Brown in his successful bid to become Buffalo’s 58th Mayor, the Erie County Independence Party reiterated their confidence in Mayor Brown’s ability to lead the city and continue his programs and policies for improving Buffalo.

“I am again very pleased to receive the endorsement of the Erie County Independence Party, who gave me their valued support in 2005, when I sought my first term as Mayor of Buffalo,” said Mayor Brown. “Since taking office in 2006, I am proud of my administration’s ability to work with a broad coalition of elected officials, community leaders, faith-based organizations and citizens in achieving many important goals, including reducing crime, cutting taxes and stabilizing the city’s fiscal condition. With the strong foundation we have built in my first term, I am confident we can continue to move Buffalo forward and I thank the Erie County Independence Party for their support as I seek a second term as Mayor of Buffalo.”

Under Mayor Brown, the city has reduced the residential and commercial property tax for four consecutive years (12.5% for residential and 14.9% for commercial), created 10,000 summer and winter jobs for city youth, reduced crime by 7% and improved Buffalo’s finances, gaining three consecutive bond upgrades from Wall Street.

“In 2005, the Erie County Independence Party believed then-Senator Brown was the best choice among the candidates running for mayor who could achieve his clear and detailed goals for improving Buffalo and move the city in the right direction,” said Sandra Geist Rosenswie, County Chair of the Erie County Independence Party. “Three and a half years later, we agree that the success Mayor Brown has achieved in his first term will continue to move the city forward, positioning it well for future growth and development.”

Mayor Brown now has received Independence Party, Conservative Party and Working Families Party support for the upcoming September primary election.
